About Erik Hÿsterik
A throwback to the era of larger-than-life rock and roll gods, Erik Hÿsterik is emerging as an imaginative new force in modern music. His massive vocals and epic instrumentals make an immediate impact on his listeners. And while his music is clearly indebted to rock’s biggest legends, Erik’s sound is distinctively modern. This is rock music for the era of augmented reality and the meta verse. His mind-bending music is set to shape the future of rock music.
Erik grew up in a small town in New Hampshire. As a child, he spent much of his time lost in music, discovering new worlds through artists like Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, David Bowie, Fastway, Genesis, Judas Priest, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, Motörhead, Pantera, Quiet Riot, Ratt, RUSH, Twisted Sister, White Zombie & Frank Zappa. These artists provided Erik with the spark his mind needed to begin forming his vision. Wild visuals, expansive compositions, and mystical lyricism quickly became part of Erik’s DNA, and formed the foundation of his musical career.
As he came of age, Erik quickly outgrew his small town surroundings and departed for California. Surrounded by decadent lifestyles and ghosts of the Hollywood strip, his artistic persona started to take form. He began writing his first songs, and before long, he had assembled several albums worth of boundary-pushing material.
Under the stage name guruji, Erik made his official debut in 2018 with the full length record ‘Catch of the Day.’ The album served as a brilliant mission statement, setting the stage for Erik’s long and fruitful career. Tracks like ‘Dragons Lair’ and ‘Dope Fiend’ perfectly encapsulated his emerging aesthetic. Defined largely by Erik’s soaring vocal performances, the record made an instant impression in underground rock circles and set Erik on the path to international rock stardom.
While ‘Catch of the Day’ was an unusually proficient debut album, it was merely the opening act for Erik, who had much bigger things in store. He spent the ensuing years refining his craft, harnessing the raw energy of his early work while utilizing his increasingly impressive technical chops to explore thrilling new territory. He released several full length albums, including guruji (VAHANA) in 2019, which embraced a grunge infused style. His lyricism grew more personal in nature, delving deeply into issues of mental health and identity in the modern world. His unique ability to turn his personal experiences into huge songs with universal messages caught the attention of several rock aficionados, and established himself as a pillar of modern rock.
Erik’s major breakthrough came with ‘Beyond the Bounds: The Metropolis Master’. The record marked his official arrival as a genre defining talent. His gift for massive hooks took the compositions to new heights and reached the largest audience of his career. Since then, he has been riding a wave of momentum unlike anything in modern music. With several new releases scheduled for 2022 and beyond, Erik Hÿsterik is set to leave a lasting legacy in rock and roll.
